First Steps and Small Wins

Dear Diary,

I finally got my website started. I know that it looks far from polished, but that’s okay. In the past, I had tried to start a website so many times, but I’d eventually lose interest in them. However, this is the first one which I can feel proud of. It’s nothing big or flashy, but I’m still proud of it.

If I won’t have any urgent plans for tomorrow, I’d like to reward myself by eating out. I’ll be expecting a lot of work and late-night writings in the near future, and I’ll probably feel some burnout sometime. Nevertheless, I’ve already decided to engage in this endeavor, to create something that I hope the world would value.

Of course, a lot of “stuff” are already out there in the world, whether IRL or in the Internet. My creations will technically be competing against all of them for attention. Just thinking about it makes me feel anxious, and I worry about not being able to meet my own expectations, that I’d feel less confident down the road.

But to keep going, I must always remind myself to celebrate the small wins. Even if things seem daunting, I must never forget these small wins, each of them contributing towards my goal. Focusing on doing the best I can, that appears to be the right mindset for me.

I think it’s not bad to make short-form writing such as this one; it’s a quick way to share a few reflections or some small episodes of my life. Maybe, when I have some good ideas to ponder and share, that’s when I’ll polish it into long-form writing.

Anyway, that’s it for now. I hope to write more in the future.
